There is just under 3 weeks to go before the LLG Annual Governance Conference in Gateshead, showcasing an extensive programme, exhibitions, networking and social events (including a river cruise) to suit all. There is also a variety of attendance packages on offer making it more flexible to attend around your own commitments. On the subject of conferences, LLG is delighted that our President, Suki Binjal has been invited as keynote speaker to open the EM LawShare Conference on 12th October 2018 in Derby. Speaking about how the organisation can support the modern lawyer and looking to the future; some reasons to be optimistic – Suki will discuss the professional challenges facing public sector lawyers and how to overcome them. With a detailed and varied programme of speakers, Suki will be joined by some of our corporate partners at the conference including; Browne Jacobson on the Armes Case (liability for abuse by foster parents). Weightmans on #Me too, Bevan Brittan on contracting post Carillion and Anthony Collins on Governance.
For those of you unable to attend the conferences, there are still bursary places available for the MSc in Local Government Legal Professional Leadership – distance learner programme. You only need to be a member of LLG and be accepted on the course to obtain the bursary so why wait?! Take the step now to develop and enhance your career development. The course is now scheduled to commence from January 2019, so you still have plenty of time to get your application in.
Finally, I would like to thank everyone who entered a nomination for the LLG Awards 2018. We have received some truly outstanding applications and have been really impressed by the great response. Finalists will be announced at the end of September – Good Luck to everyone!
